How To Delete Your Work History Or Tracks On Windows Computer
Hello,
When you work on Windows PC, i.e., browse, type keywords in browser search bar, download documents, open and save documents etc., the history of work is stored on your computer. Unless you are clearing your work session history, one can see the keywords typed by you in browser search bar, sites visited by you, the path of the saved documents, documents opened by you along with their names and contents (unless protected by some means) and so on.
It’s scary if you are working on a PC, which is shared by other users, or you have someone who monitors your work without your knowledge in your absence . If you are concerned about maintaining your privacy on your Windows computer, you must find this post useful as it gives you the tips to delete your work tracks.
A free tool called – Free Internet Eraser from PrivacyEraser Computing lets you erase the following:
- Internet history (URLs of sites visited in MS IE)
- Cache (details of sites stored on your computer for faster viewing)
- Search history (typed keywords in search bar of MS IE)
- Cookies (information of web site user for authenticating, tracking, preferences etc.)
- Windows temporary folder (used while installing software)
- Commands typed in Run window of Start menu
- History of documents opened (only the log and not the documents)
- List of documents saved (only the history of saved documents and not the documents)
If you look at the features of Free Internet Eraser 2.50, you will realize that all of them can be achieved manually by using the clear feature in browser and Windows. But, as Free Internet Eraser is free and automates the history cleaning process, there is no harm in downloading and using it for no cost. Free Internet Eraser, can be downloaded for no cost from:

Before you start using Free Internet Eraser, let me tell you that the tasks done by it Free Internet Eraser are enough for basic and normal day-to-day user. Though its name, i.e. – Free Internet Eraser gives an impression that it will delete the history of Internet browser only but it also deletes the history of windows documents also. However, I must say that for some users who are extremely concerned about their privacy will not be satisfied as it doesn’t do the thorough cleaning of your computer history and has the following main limitations:
- Only clears the history in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) and not other browsers.
- Doesn’t deletes the traces left by other applications – Chat messengers, Word Processors, Video players etc.
- Will not clean the windows swap file (temporary storage area on your Windows PC hard disk, swap file is used for improving performance of your PC by loading the programs from it).
- No selective cookie deletion
- No deletion of AutoComplete Forms Data
- No deletion of AutoComplete passwords
- Doesn’t erase MS IE index.dat file (A windows file which stores detailed history of your activities on computer and deleting of index.dat is manually not possible as it’s locked. Even after deleting Recent documents or Internet sites history etc. manually or through Free Internet Eraser, index.dat file still stores your work history).
The product that is designed to completely protect your Internet privacy and doesn’t have the limitations listed above for Free Internet Eraser is Privacy Eraser Pro (paid not free). The cost of this product is $ 39.95 (as of today and it’s a one time fee).
Being a user of Privacy Eraser Pro, I would definitely recommend it to all of you interested in complete protection of privacy when working on your PC online or offline.
Free products are designed to support basic features only. If a software saves your time by automating (no manual and incomplete history deletion) erasing of your Internet tracks and comprehensive cleaning of windows work history, then believe me it’s worth your $ 40. Also, you don’t have to worry about your online and offline work history being stored and being track able by anyone – known or unknown.
